The midday start for this Murgitroyd National T20 Cup tie, was not too early for either side, as an evenly balanced first innings showed. Falkland restricted the West Fifers to 123, bowling them out in the last over. Steven Fryer anchored the Dunfermline innings with a cultured 31, and several other batsmen chipped in with double figure scores.

For Falkland, Ryan Hepburn picked up 2-23 in his four overs, and NickCunningham 2-26. Pick of the bowlers, however, was perhaps Alan Hamilton junior, who confirmed his potential to make an impact at first team level this season with a pacy spell, returning 1 for only 17 in his four overs, which is a very good return in the short format of the game.

Falkland replied to Dunfermline's total steadily. Paul Watson and Kevin Chapman opened, and whilst they found Fryer a wee bit difficult to get away, they were able to pick up runs off Vasu Reddy and Sumi Eadeala, whose first overs were particularly wayward.

The introduction of Yasir Arafat to the visitor's attack broke a little of Falkland's stride, first removing Chapman, and then, controversially, trapping Craig Trewartha LBW first ball.

Watson received support down the order, eventually perishing for a fine 45 at the point where Falkland needed to accelerate.

It appeared at one point that Dunfermline had made a hash of their bowling order, when it became apparent that they would have to introduce a sixth bowler to bowl only one over, the 19th. Up stepped Mush Begg, however, to snap up two wickets, and virtually finish Falkland's chase.

Left with 20 to get from the last over, to be bowled by the accurate Fryer, the villagers finished on 109-8, falling short by 14 runs and ending their involvement in the newly created National Twenty20 competition.
